Borrowing Books with Unbound

Our local school students can borrow books from Mason County District Library through a collaborative program called Unbound. Our Scottville Library Director, Patti Skinner has a brief introduction to Unbound for the 2020 – 2021 school year.

Unbound is a partnership between the school district and the public library with the goal to create a library account for each student in the district. This way, we can bring public library materials right to the classroom.

Students can log on to the Mason County District Library’s online catalog and make requests for books to read at school, to augment their homework, or to take home and read for enjoyment. Then, the librarians at Mason County District Library find the books and sort them by classroom for one of our librarians to deliver to each school.

This brief video walks you through the easy process to reserve your books in our Kids Catalog.

The next video demonstrates the regular online catalog where you can request any item, including children and teen items.

Mason County District Library looks forward to our continuing partnership with our Mason County schools, and creating a culture of literacy throughout the community by making public library books available to all students, K – 12.
