FREE CHAIR YOGA FRIDAYS 10 AM LUDINGTON LIBRARY
This class is designed for seniors, people with physical challenges and anyone wanting a slower paced exercise program. Practiced in a chair, the Yoga poses and physical sequences focus on stretching, strength and flexibility. Yoga promotes the well-being of body, mind and spirit. Participants are never forced into pain or discomfort. The movements help to release tension and stress leaving you feeling energized, yet more relaxed. Chair yoga is for all regardless of age, experience or capability. Plus, we engage lightheartedness and have fun!
Some of the benefits of yoga are:
- Creates a sense of well-being and peace of mind
- Increases muscle tone, flexibility and focused concentration
- Balances the nervous system
- Strengthens the immune system
- Reduces stress
- Increases balance
The group will meet Fridays, 10 am in the Rotary Room at the Ludington Library. Sessions will be led by Kathryn Geib. Kathryn was born and raised in southwest Michigan. After graduating from WMU, she danced professionally in New York City, but gave it up in 1982 to raise two children. After retiring from law, she began to focus on yoga and meditation, and in 2015, became a 200-hour RYT (registered yoga teacher) and certified senior chair yoga instructor. Kathryn has led chair yoga classes for over 3 years. Her passion for chair yoga is to help those who may not feel able to take a “regular” yoga class to find new physical strength, increased flexibility and better balance, while simultaneously feeding the soul with peace of mind.
Mason County District Library programs are free.
