Interlibrary Loans through Michigan's MeLCat statewide system gives access to over 42 million items owned by over 400 Michigan Libraries 

MeLCat allows registered customers at participating libraries to search for, locate and request materials from a comprehensive catalog that includes the holding of libraries around the state.  Items can be delivered to the customer's local library, usually within a few days.  Available from users' libraries or from their homes, businesses and schools at http://elibrary.mel.org/search , this service provides access to millions of items, including valuable local history materials, non-book items such as DVDs and music CDs, and lots more.

As of July 2010, there are nearly 400 participating MeLCat libraries, including 310 public libraries, 40 academic libraries, 23 K-12 libraries, 10 K-12/public combined libraries, 6 special libraries and the Library of Michigan.  The statewide catalog has over 42 million items.  New libraries and their holdings continue to be added several times a year.
