The Scottville branch of Mason County District Library was originally known as the Blain Reading Association and was located at 113 S. Main Street in Scottville, opening in 1899. On October 4, 1952, the Scottville Library opened at its current location on State Street in Scottville. Read more about the history of the merger of our two branches in this PDF.
The Ludington branch of Mason County District Library was opened on March 1, 1906. A grant from the Carnegie Institution for $15,000 was secured as a large portion of the funding for construction and purchase of a building site.
