Mason County District Library's
Mason County Community Seed Library is a donation-based program available at both MCDL branches. (Donation form available here.) Stop in to the Ludington or the Scottville Library and see the selection of season-appropriate seeds that are available – for free!
Our goal here is to help feed and beautify the community by providing free garden seeds to the general public. We also aim to educate families and children on gardening and the benefits of homegrown food.
Because the seeds are donated, we do require that a membership form is filled out prior to taking seeds. A library card is not required, but is always encouraged. Once the form is completed and returned to staff, members are permitted to check out 5 packs per week. There is a limit of 30 for the season.
Checking out is a breeze! – Just write your name along with the date and quantity of each seed’s code onto the borrow log. That’s it — you’re ready to start gardening!
Following along with our area’s planting calendar, seeds will be continuously added to the displays throughout the season. If anyone is interested in donating seeds, please first make sure they are properly labeled and leave them with the front desk staff.
