In honor of America’s 250th, Mason County District Library will host an interactive reenactment of the Boston Tea Party on Saturday, August 8 10:00 am – Noon at the west end of Ludington Avenue, near Stearns Park and the boat launch. Attendees of all ages will travel back to 1773 Boston, hear Samuel Adams’s call to action, and then go on the ship to throw tea overboard in a symbol of Revolution. The fun continues with games, a children’s craft, refreshments and treats; discover if you descend from a Tea Party participant at our genealogy station, and leave with some commemorative goodies.
This event is made possible by a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, and the generosity of the Lakeshore Pyrate Head Club, through the use of their ship, and participation of their members. This is the culmination of a series of Library-sponsored 250th events held throughout the summer. We would like to thank all community members who have presented, participated, or attended to make each event such a success.
All Library events are free of charge. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
