Unearth a Story this summer with Mason County District Library’s summer reading program!
Summer reading takes place June 5 – September 5, 2026 and patrons can join starting June 5th. MCDL has a reading challenge for every age!
Children’s Summer Reading Challenge: Ages 0-12 years
Fill in one circle for every 20 minutes you read or are read to. ANY MATERIALS COUNT! (i.e. subtitles, cereal boxes, ANYTHING)
Half Way – Small Prize + gift certificate
Full Sheet – Small Prize + gift certificate and a book
Visit the Children’s Desk in Ludington or Scottville to pick up a Children’s Reading Challenge sheet.

Teen Summer Reading Challenge: Grades 6 – 12
We are counting pages this summer instead of books! For your first 1,000 pages, teens well get a small prize bag and two entries into our grand prize drawing. For every subsequent 1,000 pages, another entry goes in. Looking for another way to gain entries? Write a Book Review.
Come on in to the Teen area to pick up the Teen Reading Challenge sheet and Book Review forms.

Adults: 18+ years
Read for 30 days and complete 8 activities = Prize and 1 Grand Prize Entry. Read for another 30 days – a second Grand Prize Entry. (Next 30 days tracking on backside of sheet)
Pick up Adult Reading Challenge Sheet at the front circulation desk in Scottville or Ludington.
