Mason County District Library will host Adam Oster, the Community Engagement Librarian for the Library of Michigan, on May 19, 6:00 pm, at the Ludington branch, 217 E Ludington Ave.

Join Oster to learn how, from Michigan’s territorial period to the modern era, public libraries have played an essential role in communities across our state. This presentation will explore key milestones, including the leadership of the Michigan State Library (now Library of Michigan), Carnegie library expansion, the growth of community-funded systems, and the role libraries play in both education and civic life. Discover how these factors and more have shaped Michigan’s libraries as they adapt to society needs while remaining vital public resources.

This is the first of several events the library will host this summer centered around the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Find more events on our Events Calendar and follow us on Facebook.
